Adult & Junior Tennis

Junior Level 1

The first stage of tennis on a full size court using real balls.
For player still developing their ABCs (agility, balance, co-ordination) and basic sending and receiving skills. This level is for most juniors progressing from mini tennis green or any other older children new to the game.

Adult Level 1

For a player just starting tennis for the first time or someone who finds the game difficult and is looking for a learning environment in which they will not feel intimidated.
Players will learn basic sending and receiving skills, as well as developing their hand eye co ordination, movement and balance.
The aim of these classes is to develop the necessary skills to be able to play and enjoy a game of tennis.



Junior Level 2

For the better players coming through from mini green they would jump straight into this level.
The next stage from level 1, where players are now competent at throwing and catching, have an awareness of court positioning and are starting to develop some consistency when rallying from the baseline.

Adult Level 2

Looks at more sending and receiving skills, starts looking at the technique of a player’s strokes and starts to develop some basic tactics. The aim of these classes is to get a player to a level where they are both confident and competent to play competitive tennis. (lower club team player).



Junior Level 3

For an exceptional child coming from mini green who is already competing regularly at county to national standard.
This level is for players now very competent at rallying from the baseline. Beginning to develop some of the basic tactics like when to attack or defend.
Having got a rating, are able to serve over arm, and starting to play tennis more competitively, with an aim of improving their rating.

Adult Level 3

Starts to look at more advanced tactics of the game and develop more on court awareness improving match play skills. Also a more physically demanding session which may consist of some high intensity exercises. (middle club team player).



Junior level 4

For players who are very competent at having a competitive game of tennis, representing their club in junior teams and have started progressing up the ratings. A guide for level 4 is that players would be around a 9.1 rating or better.

Adult Level 4

Developing physical, tactical and technical skills of an advanced club player. Sessions will regularly consist of high intensity exercises. These sessions will look at both singles and doubles play (higher club team player).



Junior Level 5

For players who practice and compete on a regular basis. Most level 5 players are of a county standard or higher and represent their clubs top senior teams. Very few Over & in clubs will have enough juniors of this standard to run such session. We have close links to several High Performance Centres as well as links to high level training facilities abroad.
The Over & In team has worked with several players that have gone on to compete at Wimbledon.
